A 10-Point Plan for Options (Without Being Overwhelmed)
The eyes are undoubtedly some of the most important organs in our body, so it’s important that we take care of them. There are a lot of problems associated with degrading eye health, but you can avoid them with proper eye care. These are simple steps that you can easily incorporate in your daily lives without needing to go out of your way. But as simple as they may be, many still neglect to care for their eyes. Don’t be one of them, you can enjoy healthy eyes even as you grow older if you take precautions right now.
Always wear sunglasses
The sun can damage your vision in a lot of ways, not just by you looking directly at it. The sun emit what is called ultraviolet rays, which can cause eye conditions such as skin cancer, cataracts, and more. But these are preventable if you buy sunglasses that block 100 percent of UVA and UVB light. This kind of sunglasses cost more than the $5 kinds you see at the corner, though, so you’ll have to shell out money at first. Bring sunglasses and wear them wherever you go, so you can keep your eye healthy while also preventing wrinkles from forming around your eyes.
Avoid touching your eyes
Hands are probably the dirtiest parts of our body considering the amount of dirt and bacteria it collects, so it’s obviously a bad idea to put these anywhere near our sensitive eyes. This puts your eyes at risk of getting infection that can cause serious effects. A more serious issue may be a damaged cornea that can easily be scratched by rubbing your eyes. Instead of rubbing your eyes, try putting cold compress or using eye drops. You should also get to the root cause of itchiness, which may be allergies or conjunctivis.
Drink a lot of water
Drinking water has a lot of benefits and that includes keeping your eyes hydrated. Drinking water can keep your vision clear through the tears that your eyes produce, so be mindful of how many glasses you drink a day if you experience dry eyes.
Rest your eyes
Because technology is everywhere, our eyes cannot help but fixate on screens such as on televisions, on computers, and cellphones. This intense use of our eyes can make them tired, or worse, be permanently impaired. To prevent eye strain, simply follow the 20-20-20 rule, which dictates that you take a break every 20 minutes to look at anything that is 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
Stop eye conditions early
If you notice some changes in your eyes, go to your eye doctor immediately. Even serious issues can be avoided if you treat them at the onset.
